Enfants de moins de 12 ans

Pendant le Festival, les jeunes de moins de 12 ans accompagnés d’un adulte ne sont pas tenus de porter le laissez-passer pour assister aux spectacles. Comme des foules importantes sont attendues sur les plaines d’Abraham au cours des prochains jours, nous demandons aux parents et accompagnateurs de faire preuve de vigilance lorsqu’ils se présenteront sur le site avec des enfants.

Now that all passes are sold out, some people have been offering passes on Facebook and similar websites. Although it is not the Festival's editorial policy to censure user comments, the Festival d’été de Québec does not condone, nor encourage the sale of passes, which remains prohibited.

Xarxa Teatre : Fireworks and music in the tradition of Valencia

This year, the Festival d’été de Québec is presenting another extreme event. The troupe Xarxa Teatre, from Valencia, masters of pyrotechnics who combine music, street arts and theatre, give a unique, bold, breathtaking performance at 9:30 pm on July 16 and 17 at the Cartier-Brébeuf Historic Site of Canada (Park Cartier-Brébeuf).This event is an Arts de la rue Loto-Québec presentation.

Access to the ‘Giant Screen Zone’ behind the Bell Stage


As of Thursday, July 15 and until the close of the Festival, there is a new giant screen zone behind the Bell Stage, restricted to access with passes. To accommodate festivalgoers, there are reserved bars and restrooms in this section.

There are two entrances to this zone:

- Through the entrance on Avenue Georges VI behind the Concorde.
- Through the main entrance, next to the Cross of Sacrifice.

IMPORTANT NOTICE – You can enter the Giant Screen Zone from the Bell Stage site, but the opposite is not allowed. If you want to go from the Giant Screen Zone to the main site, you must use the Avenue Wilfrid-Laurier entrance.

Pour cette 43e édition, le Festival d’été de Québec a posé un geste de solidarité envers Haïti. Deux actions différentes ont permis de ramasser un peu plus de 25 000$ pour des projets concrets qui seront réalisés au cours de la prochaine année dans cet état francophone dévasté par un tremblement de terre il y a tout juste 6 mois.

The Jury for the 22nd Prix Miroir

The Festival d’été de Québec will be awarding its 22nd Prix Miroir, sponsored by Sodec, on July 19. The Jury - presided by Daniel Bravo and made up of Erwan Cassez, Paulette Dufour, Marième Ndiaye, Stéphane Gonzalez and Paul Gadbois – will name the winners of the Prix Miroir awards for French Language Song, World Music and Folklore, Best Canadian Artist, Urban and Contemporary Music and the Jury’s Pick. The public will vote for the winner of the Prix Miroir for the Most Popular Show.

Giant screen behind Bell Stage

The Festival d’été de Québec waits important crowds for some of the concerts presented next week-end, RUSH (July 15), The Black Eyed Peas (July 16), BILLY TALENT (July 17) and Rammstein (July 18).

For those last 4 days of the Festival, an additional giant screen on a new zone, will be set up behind the Bell Stage. Only the festivalgoers with the Hydro-Québec Pass will have access to this zone. More fans will be able to enjoy these shows!

The Festival d’été de Québec has reached a major milestone in its development. All 150,000 flashing Hydro-Québec passes for this 43rd edition have been sold out, barely two days after the Festival opened.

Développée par Exact Modus, cette application qu’on peut utiliser en mode connecté ou déconnecté, est disponible pour iPhone, iPod Touch et iPad. Elle permet aux usagers d’avoir un accès rapide à l’ensemble de la programmation (par date, heure, scène ou style musical), d’obtenir des informations sur les artistes et de consulter leur contenu multimédia.

Control and safety measures for a successful summer festival


The 43rd Festival d’été de Québec will be getting underway in just a few days. From July 8 to 18, more than 1 million festivalgoers will converge on the event’s sites around Quebec City. To get ready for the busy days ahead, festival management, city representatives and representatives from the Réseau de transport de la Capitale detailed the control and safety measures they have planned to make this event a success once again this year.

New artists on the program : RAM and Harry Manx

Arcade Fire wanted haïtian musicians as openning act on the Scène Bell. With the help of the Festival d'été, they choose RAM, spearheading the mizik rasin blend of rock and voodoo culture. Discover them July 12!

Harry Manx, will perform Sunday July 11, at the Impérial. Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, initially planned on that date, had to cancel his show for health reasons.

La mission du Festival d’été de Québec


Après une semaine de débat sur la programmation du Festival d’été de Québec, son contenu francophone et la présence de vedettes internationales, nous nous permettons d’intervenir pour rétablir les faits.

D’abord, il est important d’identifier ce qu’est le Festival d’été de Québec dans le monde événementiel. Sa mission le dit : « le Festival doit animer, l’année durant, la ville de Québec, pour tous les gens d’ici et d’ailleurs, avec une fête des arts de la scène et de la rue valorisant la chanson francophone et les projets de création, tout en étant ouverte au reste de la production culturelle dans le monde et à la découverte. ». C’est un événement musical qui a comme objectif de faire connaître, faire plaisir et divertir.

La programmation exceptionnelle élaborée cette année est une photographie actuelle du paysage musical mondial. Oui, il y a de grandes vedettes internationales. Les plus populaires mêmes seront là cet été! Québec aura aussi ce qui se fait de mieux en musiques du monde. Des artistes établis chez eux, encore méconnus ici et qui ne seraient jamais venus si ce n’était de l’invitation du Festival. 23 pays seront représentés, une variété de langues seront chantées, de l’inuktitut aux dialectes africains. Avec eux, 70 artistes québécois qui s’exprimeront en français et en anglais, joueront du tango, du rock, du hip hop.

Cette programmation de haut niveau n’est pas le fruit du hasard, elle est le résultat d’un plan de développement réfléchi, rigoureux. Le Festival a été attaqué de toutes parts au début des années 2000 pour la redondance de sa programmation et la chute de son rayonnement. S’en est suivi un important virage pour répondre aux attentes et à la volonté du public, des touristes et des médias. Depuis, l’achalandage augmente, les revenus aussi, les touristes sont plus nombreux et le rayonnement international de Québec s’accroît. Sans compter les retombées économiques. Un succès dont nous sommes très fiers!

Il est bon de rappeler que ce sont les commanditaires et les festivaliers, en achetant leurs laissez-passer, qui assument les coûts des vedettes internationales. Grâce aux revenus ainsi générés, le Festival peut investir et offrir sur ses autres scènes des contenus riches et variés, des activités pour la famille et des prestations en arts de la rue originales et époustouflantes. Le financement public permet de compléter ces volets de programmation. C’est cette profondeur qui donne au Festival d’été de Québec sa personnalité.

Dans moins de 2 mois, le Festival battra son plein, des milliers de personnes – plus de 100 000 ont déjà acheté leur laissez-passer - envahiront Québec. Ils viendront témoigner de la qualité de la programmation, s’amuser, découvrir, fêter, ce qui est l’essence même d’un festival.

Espérons, qu’encore une fois, plus de 98 %1 d’entre eux seront satisfaits.

A new recognition for the Festival d'été international de Québec

The Festival d'été international de Québec was rewarded with the third place, Bronze, at the Gala des Grands prix du tourisme québécois in Montréal, May 7, in the category :

« Prix TVA : Tourist event of the year, operating budget of $1M or more ».

The Festival d'été international de Québec congratulates the other winners in the same category : l'International de Montgolfières de Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in Montérégie (Gold) and GP3R in Mauricie (Silver).

The FEIQ was rewarded for « Tourist event of the year, operating budget of $1M or more. » at Gala du Grand Prix du tourisme 2010 for the Quebec area, March 30.

- Loco Locass will open for Gilles Vigneault, Wednesday July 14 at Scène Bell.
- Yann Perreau, Sunday July 11 at Scène Metro.
- Jah & I will open for Fool's Gold and The Cat Empire, Wednesday July 14 at Scène Molson Dry.

Hydro-Québec Passes : still on sale!

The Festival d'été de Québec had listened to the comments. 15 000 new Hydro-Québec Passes will be available in the Metro supermarkets of Québec area. These Passes will be on sale Thursday, May 6 from 8 am. The Festival also confirm that at least 5000 passes will be on sale on the festival's sites during the event begining Thursday, July 8.

Thousands of persons had bought their Hydro-Québec Pass for the Festival d'été de Québec today. More than 7 millions of requests were recorded on the first hour of the sale, so our system was slower in the first part of the day. Fortunately, our team was there to handle that.

RUSH to Play at Scène Bell at Le Festival d'été de Québec on July 15!

Le Festival d'été de Québec is pleased to announce that the legendary Canadian rock band, RUSH, will be coming to the Festival for the first time. The three band members, bassist, keyboardist and lead vocalist Geddy Lee, guitarist Alex Lifeson and drummer and lyricist Neil Peart, will play on the Scène Bell on the Plains of Abraham on July 15.

Emir Kusturica & The No Smoking Orchestra at the Quebec City Summer Festival

The musician, director, actor, producer and winner of two Palmes d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival, Emir Kusturica with his group The No Smoking Orchestra will perform at the next Quebec City Summer Festival! This will be the first visit in Quebec City for this Serbian band, which musical critics have defined their style as Gypsy techno-rock. The Heavy and Jill Barber at Quebec City Summer Festival!

After Rammstein and Charlie Winston, the Quebec City Summer Festival is proud to confirm the presence of the British rock group The Heavy and the canadian singer Jill Barber, next summer.

The Heavy, openning act for Girl Talk in 2009, will be back Saturday July 10 at L'Impérial, with his new album The house that dirt built.

Jill Barber, will present her original jazz songs Thursday July 15, also on the same stage. In February, her Chances concert at Café-Spectacles du Palais Montcalm was sold out.

The Quebec City Summer Festival was named 2009 Regional Tourist Event of the Year at last night’s Grands Prix du tourisme québécois Regional Awards Gala. Finalist in the category Festivals and Tourist Events – operating budget of $1M or more, the Festival was awarded the top prize for its constant growth and outstanding productions and because it is an international calibre event that promotes Québec on the world scene.

Charlie Winston at Quebec City Summer Festival

The Quebec City Summer Festival is proud to present the new british sensation Charlie Winston, July the 12th 2010!

April 28 Pre-Sale Date for Hydro-Québec Badges!

The first 60,000 badges for the Quebec City Summer Festival will go on sale on April 28 in greater Quebec City area Metro supermarkets. Offered at a $35 early-bird price, these badges were snapped up in less than 30 hours last year, so Festival fans are advised to hurry to get their badges again this year!

This year, the Quebec City Summer Festival has found a new way to make life easier for festivalgoers: like all major events of its kind, it now has online ticketing. As of 10 AM on Saturday, May 1, another 60,000 Hydro-Québec badges will be offered at the regular price on the Festival website.

The Quebec City Summer Festival Nominated for an OPUS Award

Plácido Domingo, the Québec Symphony Orchestra and the Quebec City Summer Festival are Opus Award finalists for the July 17, 2009 concert on the Plains of Abraham. The Opus Awards have been presented by the Conseil québécois de la musique for the past 13 years. Winners will be announced on January 31.
